Everybody Must Get Stoned
7:30 am I light the second medical of the morning!
Last nightТs one-eighth moon dipped beyond the line of surreal and disappeared into the Western Pacific looking like an ancient Viking sailing vessel as the rounded portion of LunaТs majesty held space for the earthТs movement and light. A perfect crescent whose roundness pointed into the sea. The southern point of the sliver moon was slightly higher in the sky then itТs northern point, lending credibility to an ancient sailing ship making itТs way by starlight and guile. The time was 10:07 pm cause I looked at the clock when I got up out of bed and went outside to check out this incredible wonder.
Speaking of guile, a twenty-something surfer drop-dead curly-over-the-forehead blond bangs skinny muscled kid, his oh so innocent soft blue eyes ablaze as he sucked down УThis is really dude? Humboldt?Ф His name is Dylan and when he came by with his girlfriend yesterday, УBlond On BlondФ Ц The Album - was on my stereo. ItТs from what? 1968? IТm too lazy to look.
We sat in my playa chairs with our backs to the УhouseФ and the motor homeТs ample sound system, looking for whales, pretty women, adventure and sky.
УHey, I recognize that voice, I was named after Bob Dylan,Ф he proudly exhaled a deep puff of puff. УI grew up with that shit & I havenТt heard him in a long time. Is that one of the УBest OfФ compilations youТve got on?Ф
Well, who could blame this foolish youth for thinking we were listening to a УBest OfФ disk. Yeah, one of the best of the best albums ever made! (УRainy Day WomenФ or УEverybody Must Get Stoned,Ф УVisions of Johanna,Ф УStuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again,Ф УLeopard-Skin Pill-Box hat,Ф УJust Like a Woman,Ф УAbsolutely Sweet Marie,Ф УSad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands,Ф and thatТs just half the album! Jeez, The Bob wasnТt even thirty and IТm still laughing about young Dylan.
More kulture: Some others from north of the border, born into the 70Тs pre-dot-com boom melt stopped by to chat. (УWhatТs Сcounter clockwiseТ mean?Ф) The OТJayТs were on, and this was a УBestФ of disk. (УLove TrainФ, УListen to the Clock on the WallФ, УPut Your Hands TogetherФ). One comment, among others I chose to forget was , УThis is pretty good for Disco.Ф
Ah, what else is new? Today is like yesterday, well, actually, no itТs not. Yesterday was windy! Today it is not. So it feels warmer. Just another perfect day in paradise. IТll swim again later and once again resolve to do yoga/exercise soon after waking up rather then before bТfast three hours later.
Fish tonight. Something sweet & juicy for a dollar for the fillet. Already got broccoli, garlic, purple onions, soup and couscous. After all, it is Ash Wednesday, eh?
IТm finally getting down the basics of this animation program cost me an arm and half a leg. Still canТt get the laptop as monitor working, but the MIDI keyboard is hooked up and IТm working off it and of course itТs programmable when I figure out how. BUT, I can USE MORE then two effects at a time (like Сat least a couple dozen!Т) and have already created something very trippy out of clips from bird movies IТve been shooting, fairy dust (this IS Phoenix here!), sunsets and horses. IТll eventually get something my web site when I can figure out how to record but in meantime, if ya wanna see it, just ask. Same for new pictures, sunset photos. Oh, I need Fairy Dust to ftp? Ah of course!
But the real good news is IТm reading the manual AND understanding it. Of course it was written originally in Flemish and translated to English perhaps through German or French filters but what ever, itТs some of the clearest documentation IТve seen since I first got online with that shoebox Mac during that dry but very happy winter of Т87. Back to the manual and no one can tell me to rtfm on this one!
